Chess Tournament for 4th grade was held at Southwest Arkansas Education Coop on 10/9/24. These students enjoyed the challenge of the chess tournament and then stopping by McDonald's for a sweet treat on the way back to school. There were 31 students from 5 different school districts that participated in this chess tournament. This was 4th grades first chess tournament to compete in. They did a great job! We are proud of all of our 4th graders for their hard work!!!
Junior High Chess Tournament was held at Southwest Arkansas Education Coop on 9/24/24. There were 46 students from 8 different school districts that participated in this chess tournament. Trophies were given for 1st & 2nd place. We did not bring home a trophy this time, but the students worked hard and enjoyed the challenge.
Senior High Chess Tournament was held at Southwest Arkansas Education Coop on 9/23/24. These students enjoyed the challenge in the chess tournament, Domino's pizza for lunch, and then stopping by McDonald's for a sweet treat on the way back to school. There were 45 students from 8 different school districts that participated in this chess tournament. Trophies were given for 1st & 2nd place. We did not bring home a trophy this time, but the students worked hard and enjoyed the challenge.
July 2024 - Audrey Lovette and Faith Cruz were nominated and selected to attend Arkansas Governor's School. Students who are nominated must be selected by AGS to apply and meet other criteria to be accepted, such as grades, GPA, teacher recommendations, and submiting an essay. These girls lived on campus at Arkansas Tech University for 4 weeks. "Arkansas Governor's School is a four-week residential, educational summer program designed for upcoming high school seniors with exceptional abilities, creativity, and maturity. Participants attend classes and special events, including concerts, theatrical productions, lectures, and films. They participate in service projects, recreational activities, and social gatherings. The atmosphere of AGS is charged with intellectual, cultural, and social excitement. Participants take away a heightened appreciation of their own talents, a deeper sense of their relationship to their communities, and a more intense intellectual curiosity." (DESE)
11-6-2023 The 7th grade GT students competed in a chess tournament at SWAEC in Hope. Konner Hinton placed 6th out of 34 players. Way to go Konner!!
10-02-2023 The High School chess team played in a chess tournament at the Coop today with our very own Ben Webb taking 1st place out of 34 contestants. Way to go Ben!!!
12/12/2023 5th & 6th grade GT students competed in a chess tournament at SWAEC.
12/13/2023 Jr. High and High School GT students competing in the Cubing Competition at SWAEC.
6th grade GT students received their 2nd place trophy from the SWAEC VLOG competition. So proud of the kids and their hard work on this!!
